Star Rejects Anti-Vax Position Following Lending His Voice To Contentious Coronavirus Feature
The "Taken" star has provided his vocal talents to a feature-length documentary that challenges the legitimacy of immunizations and commends one-time cabinet secretary the political figure.
The Feature's Provocative Foundation
Named "Plague of Corruption," the film is adapted from a well-known publication written by a disgraced researcher, who became famous during the global outbreak for assertions that the illness was a result of a faulty batch of the seasonal immunization.
Her writing partner, a producer, has previously authored books with far-right media personality the Infowars host. The producer recently posted praising Neeson's participation in the project.
An Unequivocal Denial
The team of the actor have released a response firmly refuting suggestions that he subscribes to anti-vaccine sentiments.
"We all recognize that unethical practices can exist within the pharmaceutical industry, but that cannot be equated to rejection of vaccines," the statement states. "Liam has never been, and cannot be described as, anti-vaccination. His considerable work with the global charity reinforces his enduring support for public-health initiatives."
The statement noted that the performer was not involved in crafting the project's messaging and that concerns about its assertions ought to go to the creators.
Central Claims Featured in the Feature
As presented, the script spoken by Neeson makes several strong claims:
- It states that pro-immunization voices have insisted on "blind obedience" to government bodies.
- It posits that "science has become highly influenced by politics."
- Kennedy is shown saying, "The big problem with vaccines is that they just aren't properly vetted."
- The film takes aim at pandemic restrictions, arguing they caused mental anguish that resulted in thousands of lives.
- On the topic of the immunizations, it references a view that they were "developed too quickly" and seen as "risky trials."
Historical Background and Current Debates
It also references a past television report about clinical trials on children, which was later the focus of a BBC apology by the corporation for unbalanced reporting.
Recently, Kennedy directed the national health agency to alter its longstanding position that there is no causal relationship between vaccines and autism spectrum disorder. This claim is repeated in the documentary, contrary to a fresh analysis from the WHO confirming no evidence has been found.
An Earlier Statement of Advocacy
Differing from the documentary's message, Neeson has formerly expressed clear advocacy for vaccines in his position as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.
In 2022, he referred to vaccines as "an extraordinary triumph," stating that "The debate about vaccines in recent years has forgotten how much benefit they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest shared accomplishments in human history."
"Plague of Corruption" concludes with Neeson's narration stating, "This marks not the conclusion of our journey. Rather, it is the start of a different phase."
