Space-Based Images Depict Iranian Navy and Atomic Locations Hit by Joint US and Israeli Military Action.

A wave of American and Israeli strikes has allegedly eliminated or harmed at least 11 warships belonging to Iran starting Saturday, recently obtained aerial photos demonstrate, with missile bases and enrichment plants also being targeted.

Photographs of the southern Konarak military port and the Bandar Abbas facility, which overlooks the strategic Hormuz Strait and houses the headquarters of the Iranian navy, show plumes of smoke rising from several ships on recent days.

Naval Forces Incurred Substantial Damage

Included in the targets eliminated was the Makran, Iran's biggest warship which had functioned as a unmanned aerial vehicle platform. Satellite images showed black smoke pouring from the ship which had been docked at the Bandar Abbas naval base.

Analytical assessments suggest that no fewer than a quintet of warships at the port were "struck or destroyed". Photos of the southern part of the harbor depict plumes ascending from the Makran, while additional ships are visibly damaged, with one of them clearly on fire.

At the Konarak base, photos display multiple damaged ships, with expert review pointing to damage to six ships. Images taken on the start of the week also demonstrate that multiple buildings at the installation have been leveled.

"For a long time the Tehran government has harassed international shipping," the head of US Central Command said. "Today, there is not a single Iranian vessel at sea in the Persian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz or Gulf of Oman, and we will not stop."

A number of vessels reportedly destroyed may have been obscured in satellite images by cloud or smoke, or hit in open waters, and have yet to be fully confirmed. Other accounts stated that an Iranian vessel was foundering off the coast of Sri Lanka's territorial waters, leading to a search and rescue mission.

Rocket Installations and Atomic Facilities Targeted

Eliminating Iranian missile bases and the hindering of atomic bomb programs were listed as additional aims of the air campaign. Satellite images also depicted damage at the southern Khorgu and north-western Tabriz missile bases, and at the Konarak air air base, where weapons bunkers and fortifications were targeted.

Over at the Choqa Balk-e unmanned aircraft site to the west of the city of Kermanshah, significant destruction was identified to sheds, underground facilities and unmanned aircraft systems.

Destruction was also observed at a radar installation at the Zahedan airbase in eastern parts of the country, close to the border with Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Perhaps most notably, the new round of attacks have reportedly hit facilities at Natanz – considered at the center of the country's enrichment efforts. An international watchdog said that the damaged structures were used for access to the facility's underground enrichment facility and that "no nuclear fallout" was likely.

Broader Consequences and Assessment

Military analysts stated that the attacks appeared to have "greatly reduced" the Iran's naval ability to conduct conventional attacks using its most significant warships. Nevertheless, it was emphasised that Tehran retains the ability to launch unconventional attacks at sea through the use of unmanned aerial vehicles, small submarines and its so-called "clandestine network" of tankers.

The full extent of the destruction caused to Iranian military infrastructure remains unclear, with attacks said to be continuing. Pictures also indicates widespread destruction to the command center of the the IRGC in the capital Tehran.

A significant number of public facilities also are reported to have been hit in the capital and across the country since the hostilities escalated. Toll estimates from ground sources state that many hundreds of civilians may have been lost their lives in the bombardment.

As the situation develops, review of aerial photographs will continue to document the changing battlefield picture.
