Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched operations across the region in response for a "massive" and continuing offensive against it by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any damage is uncertain and the US has yet to issue a statement.

Missile Defenses Activated

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - reported they have intercepted missiles in their territorial skies.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on locations linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the government.

Additional Developments

In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces said it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a several projectiles," the statement continued.

The statement noted wreckage landed in a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, causing some material damage and fatalities.

The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
